The graduation date was moved and an update on construction was given at Monday’s meeting of the Princeton R-5 Board of Education.
According to information provided by Board Secretary Christy Stockman, approval was given to moving the 2019 graduation date to Friday, May 3, which is a week earlier than had originally been scheduled. This will eliminate a conflict with district baseball as well as align with the last day of classes for the senior class.
The board was told that a leak around the roof cap for the new HVAC system at the Stacy Center has been repaired and that the center floor is now being completed. The fire alarm system is to be installed soon. The track is to be completed this week with the exception of painting the lines, which will be scheduled within the next two to three weeks. Progress continues on the elementary addition that will house the preschool, band and art rooms, with painting and light fixture installation nearly complete. Preschool playground equipment is scheduled for installation next week.
The board discussed having a surplus auction in late October. Administration will look at options and begin planning.
Following an executive session, the board approved an extra duty drama assignment for Anna DeMoss, who will assist Debi Nordyke.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 8.
