Named as king and queen of the 2018 Spickard Fall Festival on Friday night were Jakob Holtzclaw and Kennedy Schneiderheinze. Chosen as prince and princess were Alex Holtzclaw and Kinlea Griffin. Emmitt Marrs was named as “prince-in-waiting.”
Also recognized during Friday night’s program were winners of the scarecrow decorating contest. First place went to Kellene Korody. Taking second were Roger and Joy Bonnett. Hannah and drake Weaver had the third-place winner and fourth place went to Alaina Roberts.
Saturday’s youth and adult parades were cancelled due to the rain, however, the baby show was held in the afternoon at the Spickard School. Winners included:
Boys, 0 to 3 months – 1. Ryker Scott Redden, son of Corda Brown and Ayrik Redden of Trenton; 2. Jack Griffin, Freddie and Shelby Griffin of Trenton.
Girls – 0 to 3 months – 1. Blakelee Atchley, Taylor Atchley of Spickard; 3. Ella Grace Waterman, Nikki Taylor of Trenton.
Boys, 1 year – 1. Kyson McDowell, Chelsie and Todd McDowell of Trenton; 2. Cooper Callahan, Miranda and Ron Callahan of Trenton.
Girls, 1 year – 1. Veronica Vatteroni, John Vatteroni of Chillicothe and Jennifer Graves.
Boys, 2 years – 1. Emmitt Marrs, Zack and Amy Marrs of Spickard.
Boys, 3 years – 1. Memphis Youngs, Jesse and Azaria Youngs of St. Joseph; 2. Kaiden McDowell, Chelsie and Todd McDowell of Trenton.
Girls, 3 years – 1. Izabell Holtzclaw, Charles and Terri Holtzclaw.
Austin Travis and Jaynie Templeton were named winners of the adult scavenger hunt held on Saturday afternoon. During Sunday night’s community service, Ruth Ann Shipps was presented with a plaque in recognition of her being named as grand marshal of this year’s festival parade.
An entry by Sarah Bonnett was named winner of the People’s Choice Award in the quilt show while the people’s choice arts and crafts winner was Betty Lee. Other displays judged during the festival included:
