“It was another strong outing by the girls,” Trenton Coach Tammy Ockenfels said. “I’m proud that they support each other as a team from the number-one player to number 17.”
Trenton opened the dual sweeping doubles play and only dropping one point in the three matches combined. Emma Gilham and Lexi Gott won 8-0 and Kendall Crowley and Morgan Dolan won 8-0 as well. Elle Neal and Latorrie Johnson were victorious 8-1.
The beat continued in singles play, where Trenton took four of the six matches by 8-0 scores. Those winning via shutout included Gilham, Johnson, Gott and Dolan. Neal netted an 8-3 win and Crowley won 8-1.
Friday’s Benton Tennis Tournament was postponed and moved to Friday, Sept. 21. Trenton will return to the courts on Wednesday, traveling to the Cameron Tennis Tournament. That event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
JUNIOR VARSITY
Trenton’s junior varsity tennis team also scored a win over Cameron on Thursday, taking five of the six matches played.
Gwyneth Foster and Emilee Lovell won 4-2, Amanda Parrack and Mallory Sole won 4-1, Bailea Jeannoutot and Alaina Overton won 4-2, Trinity Gaunt and Baley Catron won 4-1 and Leslie Cotianaco and Foster won 4-2. Harley Hall and Kaylor Farris were also in JV action, falling 4-3.
