Virginia Ruth Foster

Virginia Ruth Foster, an 87-year-old Trenton resident and formerly of Milan, died on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Pastor Steve Bramblett officiated. Burial followed was in the Bairdstown Cemetery, northwest of Milan.
Pallbearers were Jason Sears, Kirk Sears, Jeff Frazier, Brian Caldwell, Brandon Pickering and Nick Steele.
Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Foster’s great-grandsons.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bairdstown Cemetery.
Mrs. Foster was born on March 20, 1931, the daughter of Glen and Bessie Wayman Dean. She was married on Sept. 25, 1949 in Galt to Wayne Foster, who preceded her in death in 2004.
She lived all of her married life in Sullivan County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan and active in church activities. She was a past member of BPW, delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and was in the Locust Creek Saddle Club. She worked at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital, starting as a nurse’s aide, then working in the office and medical records. She retired from the hospital after 40 years, then worked at Milan Health Care in medical records. She enjoyed antiques, yard sales, cooking, gardening and riding horses. She raised miniature horses and quarter horses.
Mrs. Foster is survived by four daughters, Connie Sears and her husband, Ron of Mendon, Carole Belcher of Maysville, Cathy Foster of Milan and Colleen Steele and her husband, Ronnie of Independence; one son, Steve Foster and his wife, Patty of Milan; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lou Polley of Trenton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Dick Dean; a sister, Shirley Hague; and a child in infancy, Michael Foster.
