Savannah Too Much For Netters

After a sweeping victory over Carrollton in the season opener, the Trenton High School girls’ tennis team was brought back down to earth by the Savannah Savages, who handed the Bulldogs an 8-1 road loss on Thursday.
Trenton picked up just one win at the dual, coming from Lexi Gott, who scored an 8-4 win in the number five singles match.
Outside of Gott’s win, Trenton played some good matches, but couldn’t secure another victory. Emma Gilham and Kendall Crowley combined for a 9-7 loss and the duo of Gott and Morgan Dolan were defeated 8-5 in doubles play. Latorrie Johnson and Elle Neal lost 8-2 in their doubles match.
Other singles action saw Gilham lose 8-3, Neal fall 8-4, Crowley defeated 8-5, Johnson lose 8-1 and Dolan fall 8-2.
In JV action, Trenton won four of six doubles matches. Gwyneth Foster and Emilee Lovell won 6-3, Baley Catron and Trinity Gaunt won 6-3, Foster and Leslie Cotiangco won 6-4 and Mallory Sole and Amanda Parrack won 6-4. The team of Kaylor Farris and Harley Hall lost 6-4 and the duo of Bailea Jeannoutot and Alaina Overton fell 7-5.
Trenton is at Chillicothe Monday at 4 p.m.
