No injuries were reported in an accident that resulted from a shoe slipping from the brake pedal.
The accident, investigated Aug. 24 by Trenton Police Officer Jasmine Diab, occurred at the intersection of Harris Avenue and East Ninth Street when the driver of a van, Krystal L. Martin of Trenton, said her “flip flop” fell off the brake pedal and she couldn’t get stopped at the red light at the intersection. Ms. Martin, who was eastbound on East Ninth Street, drove her vehicle into the intersection where it struck a car driven by Cathy M. Rice of Trenton, which was northbound on Harris Avenue. The front of Mrs. Rice’s car struck the side of the van, with moderate damage to the van and substantial damage to the car, which had to be towed from the scene.
Ms. Martin was ticketed for failing to obey a traffic light and failing to maintain financial responsibility for a vehicle.
