Trenton Fire Department Investigates House Fire

Jul 26, 2018 | Headline News

The Trenton Fire Department investigated a report of a structure fire on Wednesday night.
TFD Chief Brandon Gibler reported that firemen were called to the home of Cindy Akers at 3900 E. 10th St. around 8:50 p.m. While no smoke or fire was showing upon arrival, firemen did find light smoke upon entry into the residence. Gibler said firemen disconnected electricity to home, then entered the basement area, where they found a closet light fixture that had ignited and burned part of the floor joist and subfloor of the basement ceiling. The fire was extinguished and crews remained on the scene to remove smoke from the residence with ventilation fans.
Gibler said there was smoke damage throughout the home, with minor fire damage to the floor joist and subfloor.
The TFD was assisted by the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District, the Grundy County Ambulance Service and the Trenton Police Department.
