Gerald Bennum, an 80-year-old resident of Coffey, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at a Gower nursing home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Roberson Funeral Home in Bethnay. Burial will follow in the Coffey Cemetery at Coffey.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
Mr. Bennum was born on May 26, 1938 in Coffey, the son of Clyde Myers and Lucille Love Bales Bennum.
He was married on April 26, 1974 to Darlene Bennum, who preceded him in death on June 24, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his companion of many years, Josephine Stocking.
He worked as a land surveyor.
Survivors include three sons, Curtis Bennum (Jeff Jones) and Carl Bennum both of Kansas City and Mike (Rosie) Griffin of Princeton; two daughters, Teresa (Ron) Bartram of St. Joseph and Raelene Hays of Princeton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and companion, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim Griffin; a grandson, Trevor Bennum; a brother, James Bennum; and a sister, Mary Belle Gates.
