Jul 16, 2018 | Announcements

Plans have been announced for the 2018 Calamity Jane Days, which will be held in Princeton in September.
The annual event gets under way with a tractor cruise on Friday, Sept. 14, with tractors leaving from the fairgrounds at 9 a.m. and returning to the square at 4 p.m. There is a pork supper, awards and musical entertainment that evening.
Saturday morning, Sept. 15, begins with a breakfast sponsored by the Princeton Rotary Club at 7 a.m. at the Senior Center. The Nancy Shew Walk begins at 7:30 a.m. on Fedora Loop. The morning is full of activities ranging from a baby show to a performance by the Mic-O- Say Dancers. Vendors will be located around the square and a quilt show will be held at the Princeton Methodist Church. At 1 p.m. the parade begins, featuring marching bands from area schools as well as horses, floats and a variety of vehicles. After the parade there will be various performances ranging from a one-man band to a magician as well as games. The Old Time Shoot Out and the Melodrama are two favorites of each year’s crowd. This year both the Shootout, located by city hall, and the Melodrama, to be performed inside the Cow Palace, are free to everyone. Other afternoon activities include the kid’s pedal pull, horseshoe pitching, cornhole contests and other games. The VFW is sponsoring Bingo at the VFW Hall and the Princeton drumline will be performing. Kattywompass, a variety band playing newer and classic country, classic rock and blues, will be entertaining on the square from 7-10 p.m.
On Sunday morning, tee time is at 9 a.m. at the Country Club for the golf tournament. Car show registration is from 9 to 12 a.m. There will be music on the bandstand from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and car show awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Both the Melodrama and the Shootout will also have performances on Sunday.
