Trenton businessman Jack D. McNabb, an 81-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Friday afternoon, June 22, 2018 at Saint Luke’s on the Plaza in Kansas City.
At Mr. McNabb’s request, no services are planned at this time. The body was cremated under the direction of Slater Funeral Home of Trenton.
Mr. McNabb was born on Nov. 15, 1936 at Trenton, the son of Trevlin J. and Frieda Berry McNabb. He attended the Bunnell and Galt schools and graduated from Trenton High School. He had been a resident of Trenton since 1950. He started working at Trenton Hardware in 1954, later becoming owner. He retired in 2010.
Jack loved working in his wood shop. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting and mushroom hunting. Another pastime was gardening, raising sweet corn, green beans and anything else he could grow. He also loved his children, grandchildren, great -grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a member of Grundy Center United Methodist Church, northeast of Trenton.
He was married on Aug. 6, 1955 at Tindall to Bonnie S. Rhea, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by one daughter, Teresa Steinhoff and her husband, Cliff of Trenton; one son, Dale McNabb of Trenton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Donna Ferguson and her husband, Roy of Trenton and Eathel McNabb of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Kinate and Thelma Patridge.
Memorials are suggested to either the Saint Luke’s Hospice or American Cancer Society. They may be left at the funeral home.
