Jun 22, 2018 | Social Scene

The United Methodist Women of the Wesley United Methodist Church met on June 14 at the church with 11 members and one guest present.
Mary Lou Crawford was the hostess and was also in charge of the program. Barbara Adams gave the devotion, reading “Like a Little Child” and referencing Mark 10: 13-16 for the scripture.
Mrs. Crawford introduced Socha Osborn, who gave the program on plans to open a Christian school in August. At the time of the program, a decision had not been made as to where the school would be located. A teacher and two aides for a kindergarten class have been acquired. There are 16 children enrolled in kindergarten, eight four-year-olds, four in first grade, six in second grade, two in third grade, five to six in fourth grade and one each in grades five, six, seven and 10. They will use the curriculum from the Bob Jones School.
Mrs. Adams called the business meeting to order and reported on missions to which checks have been given. Thank you notes were read from Dr. J.A. and Chris Keuhn, the Green Hills Women’s Shelter, the North Central Missouri Children’s Advocacy Center and Trenton Bright Futures.
Pat McWilliams reported visiting several at Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments. Get well notes were signed for Dorothy Adkins, Donna Duffield and Maxine Pennell. A sympathy card was signed for Randy and Dorothy Allnutt and a prayer shawl was taken to Mrs. Adkins. Patty Martin reported 35 bottles of shampoo were taken to the annual conference for the Festival of Sharing.
The next meeting will be held on July 12 in the aldersgate room of the church with Betty Elton as hostess. She will also have the devotion. Babe Roy will have the program.
