During its meeting on Monday night, the Laredo R-7 Board of Education approved three bids for the 2018-19 school year.
Prairie Farms was the only bid for milk products, which was approved, as was a firm bid of $1.16 per gallon from Ferrellgas for propane. MFA will provide diesel fuel to the school for a two-cent discount off the pump price.
The board reviewed both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 budgets, but took no action. The board will meet on Thursday, June 28 to close out the school year as well as approve the budget for next year, which goes into effect on July 1.
Approval was given to the purchase of a new bus pending receipt of more information as well as providing voluntary student accident insurance through Nationwide. Jeni Moore was offered a contract as the Parents as Teachers coordinator for next year and Bobbie Novak was hired as the part-time office assistant. The board heard a report on summer maintenance, cleaning, safety and personnel matters and discussed plans for the Summer I-Ready incentive trip, with the date to be announced later.
An executive session was held with no announcement made. The next regular meeting will be on Monday, July 9.
