Babette Hill presented the program on Flag Day, which is celebrated on June 14. The day was first celebrated in 1885 by pupils in Fredonia, WI, with that date being the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of the flag. Flag Day was officially established by a proclamation by President Woodrow Wilson on May 30, 1916. It was not until Aug. 3 that President Harry Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14 of each year as National Flag Day. All members present were given a flag bookmark.
The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on July 5 at the Hodge Presbyterian Church with Meredith Black as hostess. The program on the state convention will be given by Mrs. Hoffman.
