Republican-Times Will Publish Two Days A Week Beginning June 4

May 29, 2018 | Headline News

The Republican-Times newspaper will change its printed publication schedule from five-days-a-week to two-days-a-week, effective on Monday, June 4.
Rather than publishing Monday through Friday, the newspaper will now be published on Tuesdays and Fridays, with Trenton subscribers receiving their newspaper delivered in the mail instead of each evening by carrier.
Increased production costs, along with the changing retail business landscape, are the forces shaping the change.
“We are one of the few remaining daily newspapers located in small towns in Missouri,” Publisher Wendell Lenhart said. “In order for the paper to survive and continue to serve Trenton and the surrounding area, this change is necessary.”
In recent years, several newspapers that had previously been published on a daily basis have moved to a bi-weekly or weekly publication, including those in Maryville and Warrensburg.
Subscribers will have the remaining amount of their subscription extended by 60 percent in order to make up for the fewer number of days the paper will be published each week. For example, a yearly subscriber that has six months remaining on their subscription will have 16 weeks added to their expiration date.
After June 4, subscribers will be able to see their new expiration date on the label of their newspaper.
The newspaper will continued to be published every day on the newspaper website, Republican-Times.com, according to Lenhart.
Persons with subscriptions to the printed copy of the newspaper are given free access to the newspaper website as a part of their subscription fee. Any subscriber wanting to add online access to their subscription is asked to contact the newspaper office at 359-2212.
Changing to a two-day-a-week printed paper will allow the newspaper staff to continue to bring local residents the high-quality news, sports, pictures and feature stories that they have become accustomed to from the R-T.
Persons with questions are asked to contact the newspaper at 359-2212 or email [email protected].
