May 29, 2018 | Headline News

A Mercer man was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Monday afternoon in Mercer County.
John K. Stiles, 59, received minor injuries and did not seek immediate medical treatment. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Stiles was the driver of a truck that was northbound on Bugle Avenue, six miles northeast of Mercer, when it met a southbound SUV driven by Taylor VanDyne, 16 of Russell, IA, at the crest of a hill. The two vehicles collided head on, with the SUV coming to rest partly off the west side of the road with its front end embedded in the front of the truck. VanDyne, who was the grandson of Stiles, received moderate injuries and was taken to Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, IA for treatment of his injuries. Both vehicles were demolished.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. Doug Little, assisted by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the Mercer County Ambulance Service and the Putnam County Ambulance Service.
