North Central Missouri College is adding two new instructors to its roster.
Cassie Cordray of Laredo and Eric Christopherson of Columbia will become the latest full-time members of the NCMC teaching staff, effective Aug. 1. Mrs. Cordray will assume the duties of teacher education instructor while Christopherson will teach math and physics classes.
Mrs. Cordray comes to NCMC from the Pleasant View R-6 School District, where she was the first grade teacher for nine years. She is a graduate of NCMC, has a bachelor of arts degree in education from Graceland University and a master of arts degree in elementary education from William Woods University. She also has experience as a youth golf instructor and holds the role of president of the Missouri State Teachers Association.
“I cannot wait to embark on my journey at NCMC as the teacher education instructor,” Mrs. Cordray said. “As a young girl, I knew early on that I wanted to become a teacher. I am passionate about teaching, and I believe we need good, quality teachers in classrooms teaching students. My goal is to inspire students studying to become educators to have the same passion as I have for teaching. As an NCMC alumni, it feels good to be a Pirate again.”
Christopherson holds a bachelor of science degree in math and a bachelor of arts degree in physics from the University of Michigan as well as a master of arts degree in mathematics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has a background in teaching at a community college, having taught mathematics at Moberly Area Community College. He also has experience in tutoring all areas of math at the college level.
“Education is my biggest passion in life,” Christopherson. “I look forward to helping students continue their education as well as add to my own.”
