Funeral services for Deward Wayne Critten will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery of Chula.
A visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday. An open visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the funeral home.
Mr. Critten, a 90-year-old Trenton resident died at 6:14 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Carriage Square Nursing Home in St. Joseph.
Mr. Critten was born on Aug. 8, 1927 in Jamesport, the son of James Carl and Laura Angeline Watkins Critten. He graduated in 1945 from Jamesport High School.
He was married on Dec. 14, 1952 in Trenton to Marilyn Kinney. He worked for W. R. Grace and Davison Chemical in Trenton before moving to Perry, IA in 1957 to work for the same company.
In 1965 he and his wife moved back to Trenton, where he worked with Hoffman and Reed. In 1981, he became plant operator for Trenton Municipal Utilities. He enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Marilyn; a daughter, Carol Perry and her husband, Mike of Stewartsville; a sister, Emily Alice Harrington of Jamesport; and a grandson, Gabe Perry and his wife, Breanne of Raytown.
Those preceding him in death include his parents and a brother, Marvin Critten.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Mid-American Trials Team Club. They may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
The family would like everyone attending the funeral to be in casual clothing and motorcycles are welcome.
