FCCLA
Chapter officers for the 2018-19 school year were announced with Oakley Madden as president. Other officers are McKenna Cox, vice president; McKayla Blackburn, treasurer and vice president of national programs; Sarah Jordan, vice president of public relations; Camryn Willey, vice president of membership; Maci Henson, secretary; Salem Croy and Mykah Hurley, after prom committee co-chairmen; and Brice Gibler, Halloween carnival chairman.
Letterwinners for the 2017-18 year included Sidney Lynch, McKenna Cox, McKayla Blackburn, Oakley Madden, Mykah Hurley and Sarah Jordan. Werthen Gass was announced as the FCCLA State Leadership Conference Scholarship winner, receiving a $10,000 award to Sullivan University for placing second in state in food innovations.
Recognized for attending the chapter officers and leadership academy were McKayla Blackburn, Oakley Madden, McKenna Cox, Camryn Willey and Sarah Jordan.
Members were also recognized at the banquet for their achievements at regional and state STAR Events and selection as a regional officer. STAR Events teams included Food Innovations, gold at both regional and state, Werthen Gass (second at state), Bailea Jeannoutot and Maci Henson; Food Innovations, bronze at regional, Kayleigh Campbell and Sidney Ellis; FCCLA Knowledge, bronze at regional, Brice Gibler and Camryn Willey; FCCLA Knowledge, silver at regional, McKenna Cox and Oakley Madden; Life Event Planning, gold at regional and state and will compete at nationals (second at state), Mykah Hurley, Sarah Jordan and Salem Croy.
The regional officers include Oakley Madden, president; McKenna Cox, second vice president/reporter; and Camryn Willey, recreational leader. They will serve until January 2019.
Key Club
Claire Utley was recognized as the member of the year by the Key Club. The award is a district-level award and is given to the member with the highest percentage of participation and service hours for the year.
Letters were presented to Gwyneth Foster and Jessa Shipley, freshmen; Mackenzie Klinginsmith, sophomore; Werthen Gass, junior; and Ella Leininger and Claire Utley, seniors. Ella and Claire were three-year letterwinners.
Service hour awards went to first-year members Gwyneth Foster, 37 hours, and Jessa Shipley, 34 hours. The top five service hour providers were Werthen Gass, 111 hours; Latorrie Johnson, 59 hours; Claire Utley, 55 hours; Ella Leininger, 40 hours; and Chase Marsh, 34 hours.
Receiving membership certificates were Gwyneth Foster, Callie Jackson, Bailea Jeannoutot, Amanda Parrack, Jessa Shipley, Breanna Ulberg, Carly Wanstreet and Kennedy Wanstreet, freshmen; Bekah Allen, Kayli Crawford, Mackenzie Klinginsmith, Reece Miller and Lindi Moulin, sophomores; Werthen Gass and Latorrie Johnson, juniors; and Grace Holcomb, Emily Kasinger, Ella Leininger, Chase Marsh, Wyatt Neal and Claire Utley, seniors (Emily and Chase are three-year members, all the rest are four-year members).
Recognized as retiring officers were Ella Leininger, president; Grace Holcomb, vice president; Claire Utley, secretary; and Werthen Gass, district representative.
Among district leadership conference recognition this year were raising over $240 for Project Linus and a public relations award for publicizing club activities. The club also received several Missouri-Arkansas District awards, including, first place for the Major Emphasis Project, March of Dimes; second place for the Single Service Project, Seven Hours of Kindness project; Ella Leininger and Claire Utley as talent finalists; first place video for promoting membership in Key Club; and second place in scrapbook, created by Werthen Gass, Gwyneth Foster and Jessa Shipley. The scrapbook and video will be entered in international competition in July. The club also received the Distinguished Diamond Club status which went to only two clubs in the two-state district.
FBLA
Future Business Leaders of America officers for the 2018-19 school year were introduced. They include Saedee Jackson, president; McKenna Cox, vice president of membership and recruitment; Trinity Gaunt, vice president of community service/education; Carson Burchett, second vice president; Max McNabb, secretary/treasurer; and Sarah Jordan, reporter/historian.
Earning letters for the year were Carson Burchett, Saedee Jackson, Ashten Whitaker, Max McNabb, Grace Holcomb, Ella Leininger, Sidney Lynch and Werthen Gass.
Special Awards went to Kierra Werteen, the Emerging Leader Award for a new member who made an impact in the organization; Lathan Croy, Business Person of the Year; and Ashten Whitaker, Outstanding Member of the Year.
