The Grundy R-5 Board of Education heard retirement announcements from several individuals during a meeting on Monday night.
According to information provided by Superintendent Rob Deaver, the board was told that long-time elementary instructors Alesia Campbell and Leetta Fordyce would be retiring at the end of the current school year along with long-time elementary cook Diana Rains. The board also accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Megan Peterson, effective at the end of the school year.
Approval was given to a waiver from the school breakfast program at the high school building through the 2020-21 school year. The board tabled discussion of 2018-19 salaries until the next board meeting.
Approval was given to program evaluations for elementary and secondary curriculum. Reports from the special education director as well as both the elementary and secondary principals were heard. Among the information provided, year-to-date attendance was listed at 94.4 percent at the elementary school and 95.9 percent at the junior/senior high school.
It was announced that graduation ceremonies for the R-5 High School Class of 2018 would be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the school in Galt.
An update on maintenance projects was held, with replacement of the gym roof set to begin at the end of May.
An executive session for personnel was held with no announcement made.
The next meeting of the board will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11 at the high school in Galt.
