George Harold Cross, an 86-year-old resident of Gilman City, died on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2017 at Melbourne Baptist Church in Melbourne. Burial with military rites will follow in Springer Cemetery at Gilman City.
A family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany.
Mr. Cross was born on Nov. 16, 1931 in Harrison County, the son of Raymond Russell and Evah M. Johnson Cross.
He was married April 10, 1955 in Melbourne to Norma King, who survives of the home.
He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Melbourne Baptist Church, Sugar Creek Township Board, and of the American Legion Post #216.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Cross is survived by his daughters, Vickie (Rick) Elder of Gilman City and Lorie (Steve) Keller of Waukee, IA; five grandchildren, Tracy Elder, Bryant Elder (Sierra Ash), Jessica (Derek) Heisdorffer, Megan (Shawn) O’hern and Jason Keller; brothers, Dr. Albert D. (Carol) Cross of Trenton and Marvin (Nancy) Cross of Waukee; one great-grandson, Brant Elder; and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Roger Lynn Cross.
