Apr 20, 2018 | Headline News

Sadie Roy of Trenton, a student at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, was honored with a scholarship on April 18 during the annual Power of Women luncheon.
The Power of Women Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a passion for a life of service, are attending SEMO full time and have completed at least 30 credit hours with a minimum 2.75 grade point average. Each recipient submitted an application demonstrating significant academic achievement, involvement at the University and commitment to volunteerism and community service. Recipients were selected based on these factors as well as their future aspirations for success in their career and personal life.
Miss Roy is a junior agriculture education major. She is a member of the Collegiate FFA, the Agriculture Club and livestock show team. She is a member of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, the Green Hills Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Wesley United Methodist Church. She is a volunteer for Relay for Life and the Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support. She has earned both the State and American FFA degree and has been named to the fall 2016 and fall 2017 dean’s lists.
Miss Roy is the daughter of Scott and Cindy Roy of Trenton and is a 2016 graduate of Trenton High School. After graduating in May 2019, she plans on being an agriculture teacher and advisor and hopes to one day start an agriculture and FFA program in an inner-city school.
