The Trenton FFA has added four more teams to the list it will be sending to the state convention for judging competition following the Northwest Missouri Career Development Education contests held on Wednesday in Maryville. The Ag Sales, Food Science, Meats and Dairy Cattle teams all qualified for the state contest in Columbia later this month. Ag Sales and Food Science both won their areas of judging while the Meats Team was second. The Dairy Cattle team took fifth place. They will join the Soils Team and Conduct of Meetings Team which had previously qualified.
The Ag Sales team had three of the top four individual judges, with Hannah Persell finishing first and Jayden Roeder finishing second. Tyler Kidd was fourth and Lauren Dolan was 17th.
The Food Science Team had the top judge in McKenna Cox. Sara Spencer finished sixth while Trinity Gaunt was 18th and Laura Carlson was 24th.
The Meats Team had the third-high individual judge in Latorrie Johnson. Padyn Gibson took seventh place while Melea Farmer was 11th and Teresa Burkholder was 19th.
Allena Allen was the top Trenton judge in Dairy Cattle judging, finishing 12th. Other team members included Mackenzie McAtee, who was 24th; Grace Allen, who was 25th; and Kaylie Crawford, who was 32nd.
Also competing for Trenton on Wednesday was the Forestry Team, which finished 18th. Team members were Karli Provorse, Hannah Mehrhoff and Hunter Beverlin.
Grundy R-5 added one more team to its list, with the Meats Team taking sixth. Anna Milazzo was the highest individual judge for R-5, finishing 16th. Other team members and their finishes were Kendra Betz, 21st; Emma Baxter, 36th; and Jonathon Stimpson, 58th.
The Grundy R-5 Farm Management and Agronomy teams qualified for state during competition on Tuesday.
A total of five teams from Princeton will be going to the state contest, with both the Meats and Dairy Cattle teams finishing first on Wednesday. Kylie Willett was the top judge in Meats while Vivian Allen was second and Brylee Williams was fifth. In Dairy Cattle, Jaylen Thomas finished second, Lauren Cox was third, Lindsey Batson was fourth and Eli Henke was 11th. On Tuesday, Princeton qualified its Livestock, Horse and Soils teams for state.
North Mercer qualified its Dairy Cattle Team for state, finishing ninth. The Forestry Team qualified as an alternate while the Meats Team placed 21st and did not qualify.
State judging will take place during the FFA Convention in Columbia on April 18-20.
