The Trenton community will be observing the Easter season with several special services planned over the next week.
The Trenton Area Ministerial Alliance will hold a community pre-Easter breakfast this Saturday, March 24 at the Wesley United Methodist Church.
The event, which is open to men, women and youth of the community, begins at 8 a.m. Dan Wiebers, superintendent of the Trenton R-9 School District, will give the devotion.
The alliance will also host a community Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 30 at the Ketcham Community Center.
Several area ministers will be presenting the “passion story” of the Bible from the perspective of those individuals who are part of that story. There will be special music, including church congregations, soloists and congregational hymns.
Area churches planning Easter season services are:
Alpha Baptist Church – Early Easter service at 8 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Regular worship service will be at 10 a.m. There will be no Sunday school or evening service.Church of the Nazarene – Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.; Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast.
Dockery Chapel Church – Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary, followed by breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and worship services at 9:30 a.m.
First Assembly of God Church – Easter cantata performance, “The Empty Tomb,” at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday.
First Baptist Church – A cantata performance, “It Happened on a Sunday” during the regular service at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 25; Early Easter service at 8 a.m., followed by breakfast, Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and worship services at 10:30 a.m. (no evening service).
First Christian Church – Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m.; regular services on Easter Sunday.
Galt Christian Church – Good Friday service at 6 p.m. on March 30; Easter community sunrise breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by the community sunrise service at 8 a.m. Regular services will be at 10 a.m. (no Sunday school).
Grundy Center UMC – Easter Sunday breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by worship at 9:30 a.m. No Sunday school is planned.
Hodge Presbyterian Church – Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. on March 29; Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at the church, with members invited to the Wesley United Methodist Church for breakfast following the service; children’s Easter egg hunt at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Easter worship service at 10:30 a.m.
Immanuel Lutheran Church – Palm Sunday services at 2 p.m.; Luncheon and Easter egg hunt at 11:30 a.m., followed by Easter Sunday services at 1 p.m. No Bible study on either Sunday.
Rural Dale Baptist Church – Easter sunrise services at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8 a.m. and the church cantata at 9:30 a.m.
St. Joseph Catholic Church – Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. on Thursday; Celebration of the Lord’s Passion and Veneration of the Cross at 7:30 p.m. on Good Friday; Holy Saturday Easter Vigil Mass at 8 p.m. on Saturday; Easter Sunday mass at 8:30 a.m.
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church – Palm Sunday services at 11 a.m.; Maundy Thursday service at 4:30 p.m.; Good Friday services at noon; Easter Sunday services at 11 a.m.
