Two persons have been charged in connection with incidents that led to the shooting of one of the suspects by a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper in Daviess County on Monday morning.
Elmer Martin Sorrell of High Ridge and Lisa Ann Legge of Washington were arrested and charged with multiple felony counts involving the shooting as well as a home invasion in Harrison County earlier in the day.
Sorrell, 52, has been charged in Daviess County with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, stealing a firearm, stealing $750 or more and resisting/interfering with an arrest. Bond was set at $100,000.
Sorrell was listed by authorities as the driver of a vehicle that had tried to escape law enforcement following the home invasion at Ridgeway. During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed near Interstate 35 in northern Daviess County, and both Sorrell and Ms. Legge, who was a passenger in the vehicle, ran from the scene. Sorrell shot at the trooper, who returned fire and struck Sorrell. Sorrell was taken to Liberty Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Ms. Legge, 55, has been charged in Harrison County with first-degree armed robbery and first-degree burglary. She is being held on a $100,000 bond.
