The Grundy R-5 fifth and sixth grade basketball teams picked up victories over Newtown-Harris on Wednesday night at the Newtown Elementary Tournament. The girls scored a 19-13 win while the boys won 38-20.
In the girls contest, Newtown was paced by eight points from Anna Fordyce and Adysan Rains finished with seven for Grundy. The boys’ contest saw Cooper Coffman lead the Panthers with 14 points while Gabe Meneses and Corbin Axtell followed with 13 and nine points respectively. Newtown got 10 points from Zach Cross and five from Hunter Miller.
