Jerry L. Griffin, a 79-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at his residence and surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at the Souls Harbor Church of God in Chillicothe. A private family inurnment will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe at a later date.
There is no scheduled family visitation. Lindley Funeral Home of Chillicothe is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Griffin was born on Dec. 9, 1938 in Chillicothe, the son Charles E. and Dorothy J. Gordon Griffin. He was a 1957 graduate of Chillicothe High School.
He was married on Nov. 16, 1958 at Blue Mound to Nina Linscott, who survives of the home. He worked for Donaldson Company in Chillicothe for 38 years. He then worked for the United States Postal Service for eight years. He served as pastor at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Trenton for six years.
Mr. Griffin served as a volunteer for the RSVP. He was a member of the Souls Harbor Church of God at Chillicothe. He enjoyed golfing, especially playing in the senior league, and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Nina, of the home; one son, Rick Griffin, and his wife, Kim of Chillicothe; one daughter, Shelly Griffin, of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra M. Blakely, and her husband, Ray of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bud Griffin; and one great-grandson, Finn Lee Griffin.
