Students and staff at the Pleasant View R-6 School honored members of the 548th Transportation Unit of the Missouri National Guard with a luncheon on Friday. Several students had parents who served with the unit, which recently returned from a deployment to Kuwait. Among those was Raegan Schmidt, pictured with her father, SFC Kris Schmidt (at right); her grandmother, April Moore; and SSG Chris Lyon, who accompanied Kris Schmidt to the luncheon. Schmidt also presented the school with a U.S. flag that flew over the unit’s base in Kuwait on Veteran’s Day and a plaque that read “This American flag was flown over 548TH Combat Sustainment Support Battalion at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, in support of Operation Spartan Shield and presented to Pleasant View R-6 of Trenton, MO by SFC Kris Schmidt and SPC Taylor Vandever for your outstanding and generous support of the 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.”
