Joseph F. “Joe” O’Handlon an 85-year-old resident of Trenton, died late morning Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at the Prairie Ridge Christian Union Church, west of Polo, with Rev. Michael Duncan and Adrian Cox officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Edinburg Cemetery, west of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton. A second visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Mr. O’Handlon was born on Nov. 6, 1932 in Zanesville, OH, the son of Edward J. and Audrey L. Launder O’Handlon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Before retiring he was a self-employed mechanic.
He was married to Ruth Ann Vasko, who preceded him in death.
On Oct. 31, 2001 he was married at Bluff, AZ to Katie Zeikle, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by one step-daughter, Kathy Lynn Sims and her husband, Stan, of Kansas City; two step-sons, Daniel E. Elliott and his wife, Sue of Lee’s Summit and Jeff Billingsley and his wife, Ruth, of Farmington, NM; six step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy James and her husband, Bill, of Zanesville, OH; two cousins, Margaret Ann Noll of Zanesville and James Noll of Columbus, OH; five nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Dianne Barnes; and one sister, Mary A. Lemmon.
Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Ridge Christian Union Church. They may be left at the funeral home.
