It was a road sweep for the Grundy R-5 High School basketball teams on Tuesday night in Jamesport. The girls scored a 75-50 victory and the boys followed suit, picking up a 58-43 win.
In the girls game, Grundy raced out to a 48-16 lead in the first half and never looked back, cruising to the win. Jandie Peterson had 28 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in a nice bounce-back game. Aubrey Gann followed with 17 points and six steals and Anna Milazzo added 14 points, 13 rebounds and two assists. Morgan Axtell had five points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and five steals. Mady Williams had 12 rebounds and five assists and Brianna Carpio had four assists and three steals. Grundy is now 18-6 overall on the season.
The boys’ contest saw Wayne Baxter pace the Panthers with 18 points. Bryson Gann had 14 points and six rebounds and Jonathon Stimpson finished with eight points, six rebounds and five assists. With the win, the Panthers moved to 11-13 overall.
Both Grundy teams return to action on Thursday, traveling to Pattonsburg for a doubleheader. It will be the final test of the season for Grundy before district play begins next week. Tipoff for the all-Panther showdown on Thursday is set for 6 p.m.
