Just when you thought there wasn’t any other way to fix a chocolate recipe, along comes the Green Hills Animal Shelter’s annual “Walk in Chocolate Heaven” fundraiser on Tuesday night at the First Christian Church Family Activity Center. Offerings ranged from Cocoa Coffee Crusted Beef Brisket with Raspberry Chipotle Sauce and Chocolate Cornbread to Chocolate Zucchini Bread and “Chocolate Surprise.” Awards were presented in three areas, Gayla Whittle had the winning taste entry (Cocoa Coffee Crusted Beef Brisket); Sandy Smith, the top presentation entry (Triple Chocolate Cake Balls); and Taylor Richardson, the top creativity entry (French Chocolate Macaroons/Cocoa Ganache). Just over $3,600 was raised for the shelter from purchases of the food items as well bids on baskets.
