Carson Randel Sterling, a 93-year-old resident of Laredo, died at 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
His body is to be cremated under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton with memorial services to be held at a later date.
Mr. Sterling was born on Jan. 19, 1925 near Milan, the son of Robert Edgar and Lydia Ermel Brown Sterling. He was married at Pollock on June 4, 1947 to Cleta McDonald. They farmed around Osgood, Humphreys and Laredo. They enjoyed traveling, both home and abroad. They were avid motorcyclists and traveled through all 50 states with 34 of those states being on their Harley and Gold Wing bikes. After retiring in 2000 they moved into Laredo.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and would play and sing along after everyone went to bed at night. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and never met a stranger.
Mr. Sterling was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church and the Gold Wing Road Riders.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Cleta of the home; a son, Steve Sterling and his wife, Vicki of Clarksdale; a daughter, Cathy Bowe and her husband, Ken of Laredo; a sister, Darlene Glidewell of Camdenton; four grandchildren, Gina Lynn Sterling, Craig Randel Sterling and his wife, Dana, Amanda Kim Terhune and her husband, Scott and Keith Randal Bowe and his wife, Karla; and five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Sue Terhune, Dakota Carson Terhune, Alexis Brooke Bowe, Ethan Randal Bowe and Emily Grace Bowe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Quinten and Edward Sterling; and a sister, Iris Glidewell.
