Two Hurt In Area Accidents

Feb 5, 2018 | Headline News

Two persons were injured in separate accidents occurring last week in Grundy County.
Michelle Persinger, 38, of Trenton received minor injuries on Friday morning when the car she was driving was struck by a second vehicle that then left the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that Ms. Persinger’s vehicle was southbound on Route W, about five miles southwest of Trenton, when it was sideswiped by a northbound vehicle near a hillcrest. Ms. Persinger was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton by the Grundy County Ambulance Service for treatment of her injuries. The vehicle received moderate damage.
Trooper B.N. Raney investigated that accident, assisted by Trooper J.C. Acree and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.
The second accident occurred on Thursday night on Route JJ, approximately five miles east of Laredo. The patrol said a truck driven by Andrew Epperson, 57, of Laredo, was southbound on Route JJ when it travelled into the northbound lane. The truck then skidded and swerved to the west, crossing the center line and going off the west side of the road. It then traveled down a grass embankment and as the driver attempted to overcorrect, the vehicle swerved slightly to the left and flipped, overturning two times before coming to rest on its wheels. The truck was demolished.
Epperson received serious injuries and was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton by the Grundy County Ambulance Service. He was ticketed for felony DWI, driving while revoked or suspended, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in an accident and having no insurance.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. Doug Little, assisted by Trooper J.E. Hainey, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, the Laredo and Galt fire protection districts and the Grundy County Ambulance Service.
