Trenton Junior Varsity Splits At Gallatin Tourney

The Trenton High School junior varsity basketball teams split games on Thursday in the opening round of the Gallatin Junior Varsity Tournament. The Trenton girls clobbered South Harrison, 55-7, while the Trenton boys dropped a close game with South Harrison, 39-36.
Trenton’s girls ran out to leads of 20-0 after one quarter and 28-0 at halftime before cruising to the finish with a 48-point victory.
Haley Kidd had a game high 17 points, McKayla Blackburn and Saedee Jackson each had 14, Allena Allen and Kendall Crowley each had four and Olivia Roberts added two.
Trenton’s JV is now 7-0 on the season and will play for the tournament championship on Saturday.
Exactly one month ago, the Trenton boys JV team was run out of the gym by South Harrison, falling by close to 30 points. On Thursday, the Bulldogs almost managed a huge upset, falling by just three points in the semifinals of the tournament.
Trenton was paced by Matt Sibbit, who led the scoring charge with 13 points. Dalton Burchett ended the night with nine points and Royce Jackson had six. Camdyn Leeper and Preston Harris had three points each with Chase Otto adding two.
Trenton’s girls will play for the championship on Saturday while the Trenton boys will battle for third.
