140 Sign Up For Wellness Challenge

Jan 17, 2018 | Headline News

A total of 140 persons have signed up for the Green Hills Wellness Challenge, which gets under way this week. The event is being sponsored by the Grundy County Health Department, the Ketcham Community Center, the Trenton Republican-Times and Hy-Vee.
Weather changed the dates to sign up for this year’s event, with the final day being Tuesday, Jan. 16. Despite the late sign-up time, Wellness Challenge Coordinator Abbie Oberman said participants will still weigh-in for the first time this week. Weigh-in can be done at the health department on Thursday and Friday during regular business hours as well as at the Ketcham Community Center on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday during regular hours.
The challenge continues for 12 weeks through the week of April 5, with those losing at least 10 percent of their body weight during that time being eligible for a monetary prize. In addition, persons turning in completed food journals will be eligible for a drawing that includes two one-year memberships to the KCC and two one-year subscriptions to the Republican-Times. Weight percentage losses will be published each Wednesday in the newspaper through April 11.
In addition to the challenge, two persons have entered the competition to win the $300 maintenance prize, which is awarded to the individual who has maintained the highest percentage of weight loss since the end of last year’s challenge in April. That winner will be announced at a later date.
