Harold Carter, an 86-year-old resident of rural Gilman City, died on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at a Kansas City hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery at Gilman City.
A family visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Carter was born on April 10, 1931 in Denver, CO, the son of Hubert and Marion Rolle Carter. He worked as a farmer, carpenter and bricklayer and was a member of the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church.
He was married on Oct. 23, 1951 in Harrison, AR to Donna Smith. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
He enjoyed farming in Daviess County, trips to his home state of Colorado where he instilled his love of Jeep trails in family members, many miles of driving a bus for Missions Outreach, several mission trips, with his happiest hours being spent at Donna’s side watching their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as each met their goals and succeeded in their own pathways. He had an unshakable faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and strived always to spread God’s light into the world.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Debbie (Dan) Herrold and Becky (Jim) Walker; grandchildren, Seth (Tiffany) Herrold, Zach (Jessica) Walker, Benjamin Herrold, Ally (Brad) Cunningham and Abbie Herrold; great-grandchildren, Brett Walker, Caroline Walker and Cash Herrold; a sister, Marilyn (Carter) Mosby; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
