The North Central Missouri College women’s basketball team showed no ill signs following Christmas break as the Pirates returned to the court with a lopsided 84-55 drubbing of the visiting Saint Mary’s junior varsity on Saturday at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.
North Central was consistent all game long on the offensive side of the court, but the defense was a bit sluggish out of the gate as the Pirates trailed 25-22 after one quarter. NCMC scored 22 points again in the second period, but the defense stepped up in a big way in the second, limiting the visitors to a mere five points. NCMC continued to produce in the second half, netting 20 points in both the third and fourth quarters while limiting Saint Mary’s to 12 points in the third and 13 in the fourth.
Leading the way for the Pirates was Kendey Eaton, who scored 24 points and had five assists in the victory. Sarah Lamp followed with 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks and Hailey Burrows scored nine points. Whitley Richman and Lindsay Wyatt each had eight points with Richman pulling down 14 rebounds and Wyatt dishing out three assists.
With the win, North Central improved to 12-3 overall on the season.
