Just two days after watching a solid halftime lead disappear in a 77-75 home loss to Johnson County, North Central stepped back out on their home court looking to make a statement. The Pirates did just that, defeating an overmatched Culver-Stockton club, 82-63, on Friday night.
“After a disappointing performance on Wednesday, I thought our guys did a good job of bouncing back and focusing to help end the first semester on a positive note,” North Central Head Coach Jeremy Esry said.
Leading the way for the Pirates were Jalen Gant and Jordan Reece, both of whom posted double-doubles in North Central’s romp. Gant had a game-high 27 points and backed that number up with 10 rebounds. Reece, meanwhile, went for 24 points and dominated the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds in the game.
“Jalen was solid as usual for us and Jordan was phenomenal on the glass and in transition, Esry said. “We have a couple of things that we can key on and improve on, but I think we also played a lot of good basketball this semester that, hopefully, we can build off of.”
Behind the two forwards, North Central got nine points from another big man – Jake Salisbury. Emil Spriggs led North Central in passing, tallying five assists in the win.
The win pushed North Central’s overall record on the season to 8-5.
