Marceline Man Seeking House Seat

A Marceline man has announced plans to run for the Seventh District Missouri House position currently held by Rep. Rusty Black, R-Chillicothe.
Dennis Van Dyke plans to file for the position as a Democrat when filing opens in January. Van Dyke spent 37 years as a conductor/instructor for the BNSF Railroad. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in agricultural mechanization with an emphasis in ag economics. During his senior year he traveled to Central America and Europe with the College of Agriculture.
He and his wife, Debbie, live on the family farm west of Marceline. They have five children and nine grandchildren. He is involved in several community activities, including elder and chairman of the board at the Marceline Christian Church, the Jaycees and president and board of directors member of the Walsworth Community center. He is currently the legislative representative for the National Association of Retired Veteran Railway Employees, Unit 154.
