Mary Lou Gorman, an 88-year-old Galt resident, died at 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 27, 2017) at the Galt First Christian Church in Galt. Burial was in Stucker Cemetery near Laredo.
Mrs. Gorman was born on Sept. 28, 1929 in Farmersville, the daughter of George J. and Flora W. Woods Mantlo. She was married on Dec. 11, 1948 in Kansas City to Ralph J. Gorman. They moved to Galt in 1965 and owned and operated Ralph’s Hy-Klas Grocery Store until 1975. Mrs. Gorman then worked at Sunnyview Nursing Home until retiring in 1988 when Ralph’s health began to fail.
She was a member of the Galt First Christian Church and the Galt Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Every morning she enjoyed having breakfast with friends at the Galt Cafe.
Surviving relatives include her daughter Martha Provance and her husband, Curtis of Trenton; a twin sister, Betty Sallee of Chillicothe; a sister, Loraine Ricehouse of Chillicothe; a brother, Bill Mantlo and his wife, Joann of Laredo; a sister, Lena Cooksey and her husband, Donald of Laredo; a son-in-law, Mike Beasley, three grandchildren, Jason Beasley and his wife, Leah of Franklin, OH, Jared Beasley and his wife, Laurey of Park City, KS and Catie Shippen and her husband, Ryan of Trenton; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Eli and Nora Beasley and Landry Shippen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Linda L Beasley; and a sister, Eunice Funk.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Galt Christian Church or the Galt Fire Department and may be left with or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton.
