Grundy County EMS was called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident investigated Friday at the intersection of Ninth and Main streets.
According to Trenton Police Officer Jasmine Diab’s accident report, the mishap occurred when a sport utility vehicle driven by Samuel J. Anderson of Trenton was travelling northbound on Main Street behind a van driven by Robert M. Schirm of Urbandale, IA. Anderson said he saw the light turn green and then looked down to get something out of his wallet. When he looked back up, Schirm’s vehicle had stopped and his SUV struck the van from behind.
A passenger in Schirm’s van, Evelyn Schirm, also of Urbandale, complained of back pain and EMS was called to the scene.
Anderson was ticketed for following another vehicle too closely.
