Awards were presented and Hall of Fame members were inducted during a banquet held on Saturday night celebrating the end of the season at the I-35 Speedway.
Recognized for winning season championships were Randy Smith, E Mods; Cletus Murray, Pure Stocks; Donnie Brown, Grand Nationals; Bud Wilson, USRA B Mods; Dean Wray, USRA Stock Cars; and Dennis Elliott, USRA A Mods. John Hanson and Manlee Lamar were named Sportsmen of the Year with Rookie of the Year honors going to Chris Mercer, E-Modified; Garrett Hill, USRA B-Modified; Nic Hanes, USRA A-Modified; and Brandon Hoover, Pure Stock. The Gene Tuttle Award went to Travis Shewmaker while Bridgeman’s Wrecker Service received the Hook of the Year award. Special recognition also went to the Community Ambulance Service of Daviess County, Show Me Vintage Racers and Mickey Fleehart.
Inducted into the 2017 Hall of Fame Class were Bud Wilson, Paula Wilson-Murphy and Buzz Kaster. Announced as inductees for the 2018 class were Randy Ainsworth, Larry Kaster and Ed and Betty Schwope.
