Darrell “Jack” Gibson, a 94-year-old resident of Richmond and formerly of Gilman City, died on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at a Liberty hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial with military rites will follow in the Masonic Cemetery at Gilman City.
A family visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Gibson was born on May 16, 1923 in Harrison County, the son of Matthew Jean and Hettie Grace Turley Gibson. He was married on Sept. 19, 1943 in Brimson to Dorothy Elder, who preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2012.
Mr. Gibson served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He then worked as a service manager for General Motors dealerships in the Kansas City area.
He is survived by a daughter, Connie (Kent) Miller of Joplin; a son-in-law, David Adams of Richmond; four grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Inmon, Marcy (Jon) Fisk, Jeremy (Shannon) Adams and Amanda (Dustin) Nolting; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mona Roberts of Gilman City; and a sister-in-law, Cleta Gibson of Springfield.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Diana Adams; a grandson, Brayden Adams; and a brother, Raymond Gibson.
