The Trenton High School volleyball team was on the road on Monday night, traveling to face St. Joseph Christian.
The Bulldogs would return home with a loss despite pushing the match to three games.
In the end, Christian was able to outlast the Bulldogs, handing Trenton a 21-25, 25-22, 25-27 defeat.
All three games were close with neither team establishing a clear advantage at any point. The decisive third game was the closest, needing extra points, before the home team finally prevailed.
Saedee Jackson had a huge night for Trenton at the net, leading the Bulldogs with seven kills. She also had two blocks and did a solid job on the back line as well, recording six digs.
Behind Jackson, Karli Provorse had nine digs, three kills, three blocks and two assists and Melea Farmer added eight assists, four digs and a kill. Teresa Yoder had seven digs, two aces, three kills and an assist and Shawna Coplen finished with seven digs, two kills and two assists. Allena Allen added two kills, two digs, an assist and an ace. Trenton also got two digs from Haylee Coplen and one kill each from Gilcy Ando and Evy McCullough.
With the loss, Trenton fell to 11-14-1 overall on the season. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back tonight as they close out the regular season at home against the Savannah Savages. Action begins at 5 p.m. with a junior varsity match and the varsity match will follow. Senior volleyball players will be honored between the two contests.
Trenton will travel to Higginsville next week for the Class 2, District 15 tournament. Trenton is seeded second, the highest seed ever attained by the program in districts. The Bulldogs will play Brookfield in the opening round on Monday at 6 p.m.
