Flood Stage Changed On Thompson River

Oct 6, 2017 | Announcements

The National Weather Service has announced that the flood stage for the Thompson River at Trenton will be changed next month.
The flood stage has been lowered from 30 feet to 27 feet, effective Nov. 7. The change, according to the NWS and Grundy County Emergency Management Director Glen Briggs, came about due to a recent re-evaluation of the flood plain. Briggs said the river at Trenton has been flooding at 27 feet, rather than at 30. With that change, the new moderate flood stage will be 31 feet, rather than the previous measurement of 33 feet, and the new major flood stage will be 34 feet, rather than the previous measurement of 37 feet.
