Four games on the road, three games at home. The Trenton Bulldogs are 3-4 in those contests.
It’s safe to say Trenton’s high school volleyball team would just as soon play all of its matches at home. The Bulldogs kept themselves undefeated on their own floor on Tuesday night, crushing a first-year South Harrison program 25-4, 25-7.
Neither game was close as Trenton grabbed each set by the throat very early on and cruised to a pair of lopsided victories for its third match win of the year. Trenton also defeated Hamilton and Carrollton at home.
Leading the onslaught for the Bulldogs was Teresa Yoder, who had five aces and two kills, and Karli Provorse, who had three aces, three kills and an assist. Melea Farmer finished with four aces, an assist and a dig and Shawna Coplen added an ace, five assists and two digs. Saedee Jackson followed with two aces, three kills and an assist.
Trenton also got two kills from Evy McCullough, a kill each from Allena Allen and Gilcy Ando, a dig from Haylee Coplen and an ace from Cassidy Trump.
The strong play didn’t stop at the varsity level for Trenton, either. The Bulldogs took the junior varsity match 25-12, 25-14 and the C match 25-17, 25-14.
Trenton will have to find a way to bring its home magic on the road as the Bulldogs have two matches and a tournament coming up – all out of town. Trenton will travel to Kirksville on Thursday, taking on the Tigers at 6 p.m. Saturday sees Trenton in action at the Lathrop Tournament, beginning at 9 a.m., and the Bulldogs travel to Hamilton on Tuesday, Sept. 12, to take on a Hornets team that Trenton topped at home on Aug. 28.
