The Trenton Middle School football team was handed a 16-6 season opening loss by Putnam County on Monday night on the road in Unionville.
The Midgets struck first and last, scoring and getting two-point conversions in both the first and fourth quarters. Trenton got the ball in the end zone just once, coming on a 58-yard run by Tyler Siemer in the third quarter.
With the loss, Trenton established an 0-1 record to start the season.
Trenton will be at home next Monday, playing host to Princeton’s middle school squad at 5 p.m.
