The Trenton High School girls golf team got on the course for the first time on Tuesday, but only competed individually with just three of its four players eligible.
Despite the lack of a team score, Trenton was still able to take some satisfaction away from the dual with host Brookfield as Werthen Gass won medialist honors, shooting a score of 46. Par for the course was 37 and Gass’ score was three shots better than the twin 49’s posted by Brookfield’s top two golfers.
“It was a good start to the season for Werthen,” Trenton coach Travis Mullenix said. “She was medalist on a course she’s only played maybe once or twice against a couple girls that are pretty good golfers.
Behind Gass, Maci Henson carded a 65 and Oakley Madden finished with a 67.
Trenton will host Chillicothe today at the Riverside Country Club at 4 o’clock.
