Gabe Swann of Trenton was among 120 Missouri High school students attending the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Leadership in Practice program, held June 25-28 on the campus of Westminster University in Fulton. The program is designed to provide young Missourians an opportunity to learn what it takes to be an effective leader in their school and community. Students took part in real-life simulations, working in small groups to develop business plans for a new product or service during the Entrepreneurship Challenge. During a model UN simulation, students engaged in debate on nuclear weapons. Participants were also encouraged to set goals to further develop their leadership skills and were challenged to go back to their schools and communities to play a more active role leading their peers. Swann will be a sophomore this fall at Trenton High School and is the son of John and Linda Cowling of Trenton and Steve Swann.
