Update On Lakeview Fire

Jul 26, 2017 | Headline News

The Missouri Division of Fire Safety is still continuing its investigation in to the May fire that destroyed a large portion of the Lakeview Inn.
Trenton Fire Chief Brandon Gibler said he had spoken with the state fire investigator, who indicated that the insurance company’s investigator, Anderson Investigations, had listed the cause of the fire as undetermined. Gibler said he has not been able to confirm that with the insurance company. He said that he is speculating clean-up of the property would not begin until the court determines the rightful payees of the insurance money
The insurance company, Cincinnati Insurance Co., has filed a petition earlier this month against Jang Hoon Lee d/b/a Lakeview Inn and Cafe, as well as Ian and Alison Gray, Colin and Nora Withers and the city of Trenton to determine the rightful payee of the insurance proceeds. On Monday night, the Building and Nuisance Board of the Trenton City Council voted to declare the structure a nuisance and continue the abatement process until the debris is removed. Under city ordinance, the city is allowed to receive a portion of insurance proceeds from structures in the city limits that are destroyed by fire, keeping the money in escrow to assure clean-up is completed. The money is then returned to the rightful owner once that process if finished.
