Georgia was born on Aug. 3, 1943 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of George and Bessie Hayden Schreck. She graduated in 1964 as a registered nurse in Dayton, OH.
She was married on Sept. 25, 1965 in Wayland to Max Schilling. The family moved to their farm southwest of Trenton, in 1976. While raising her family she continued her education and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville and her master’s degree in education from Truman State University.
She worked as a nurse in health care for 40-plus years, where she touched so many lives. Georgia had a heart of gold. Unbeknownst to her, she was known to her family as Saint Georgie. Her faith was very strong. Georgia was never afraid of hard work whether in her career or at home.
Georgia loved traveling and playing with her family. She enjoyed flowers (whenever they were able to grow due to her kids or the cattle tromping on them), wildlife, scenic drives, cards and time spent with her ornery husband, Max. She was also a captain in the Army Reserves.
Immediate family members include three sons, Shawn and his wife, Lisa, Douglas and his wife, Marie and Kevin Schilling; a daughter, Sherry and her husband, Joe Searcy; a sister, Kathy Stark; and grandchildren, Maddie, Cole, Sam, Luke, Malachi and Mikayla.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband and a sister, Barbara Martin.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
